Hello,

I’m Rachel, a freelance copywriter based in Seattle, WA.

I have—or can find—the right words for just about anything.

Writing is my work, my creative outlet, and my preferred method of personal expression. Whether I am expressing the needs of a non-profit to a potential funder, helping an agency articulate their ideas in a project proposal, or developing a thought-provoking piece of marketing copy—written communication is my strong suit.

From pieces that are serious in tone and subject, to those a bit more on the casual side, I bring a high level of professionalism and unique spark of creativity to every project. I take the time to understand each client’s specific communication goals and always carefully match their specific brand, tone, and style.

“You're a full-time copywriter! How did you get into that?"

Like many people left to explain how they wound up in a given circumstance, I have two responses to this very valid question: one long, one short. The TLDR answer is that I love writing, I'm good at it, and I have the growth mindset necessary to stay at the top of my game in an exciting and ever-changing industry.

The longer version boils down to the fact that I've always had a knack for supporting others in the achievement of their dreams. Fresh out of college, and for nearly a decade thereafter, this meant working in the non-profit sector to support youth survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. In these positions I quickly learned how vital written communication is to successful program management, community education, and efforts to fund lifesaving services.

In 2018 I began looking for my next step, wondering how I could continue supporting the organizations I loved while also taking a step away from direct service. At that point I took a specific interest in fundraising copy and began accepting freelance projects, primarily writing direct mail appeals and donor communications. In 2019, I returned to school to obtain my grant writing certification and began accepting contract-based grant writing work. Since that time, my RFP responses have resulted in awards totaling over three million dollars and counting.

Today, I bring the full breadth of this experience to every writing project I take on. So, if there's a piece of unwritten copy standing between you and the achievement of a personal or professional goal, let's put pen to paper and accomplish it together.

They say reading is the most important part of writing—you can count on me to do plenty of both.
